Meeting TODAY to fund Lester Park Renovation

This meeting TODAY is the culmination of over 3 years of efforts and now I’m asking for YOUR help. 3 summers ago I called then council member Ben Nadolski to ask about the status of the Lester Park remodel. I knew about the library design contest, and that nothing had happened with the winning design. He did not give details as to why the city was not moving forward but suggested that eventually it would be the park’s time. WE can make it our park’s time NOW by attending this week’s work session and showing silent support for council member Dave Graf’s funding initiative to allocate money for Lester Park updates.

Why did the previous winning design not move forward? The 2 main reasons were Insufficient funding and that there were design concerns. For over a year conversations have been happening between Shalae Larsen, one of the fantastic winning designers, the Parks & Rec department, and the engineering department of Ogden City. (I saw a new, updated design suggestion from the city just this week!) Police have given feedback for safety too. Neighbors like you gave feedback on designs through surveys and at our meeting this past summer. NOW we need the funding to make those designs possible!!

We currently have funding for pickleball courts and a playground update. But wouldn’t it be incredible, ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE, to see this and the rest of the park remodeled all at once? According to designers and Parks & Rec, that’s the best way to do it. One big, complete renovation with improved lighting, a jogging trail with a rubber-based path, nicer fields where regular programming could happen, and other artistic, beautification efforts? Help make this possible for us to enjoy together, for our neighbors, our kids, their kids, and future generations!

See you this evening, Tuesday at 5 PM, to show that we want more for Lester Park and our neighborhood NOW! PLEASE SHARE! ❤
